Simone Lim is the latest champion of the Oceania Juniors division after an incredible read in the final moments of the tie breaker game against favorite Justin Miranda-Radbord.
Simone had a Tryanitar in play, compared to Justin's Rhyperior and Dusclops. Tryanitar has speed on both of them, but it's still two against one in a double battle setup. The conventional play would have had Tryanitar attack to knock out Rhyperior and then finish up Dusclops next turn, but Dusclops had Trick Room, a move that would alter the attack order so that Justin's Pokemon would have advantage on Simone's. Justin decided to Protect Rhyperior and readied Trick Room for next turn, but Simone knew this, so she had Tyranitar attack to knock out Dusclops, the Protect whiffed since there wasn't an attack to protect from, and Tyranitar cleaned up next turn. Absolute nailbiter of a finish.
