I haven't played a whole lot of it so far, but I'm really enjoying temtem. It's a great, fresh take on the monster battler formula that seems to have stagnated in Pokemon for a while. It seems like this is going to really adopt a lot of the multiplayer features competetive pokemon players have been asking for for a very long time, and Nitnendo just doesn't care to put in, which is probably fine, since that isn't Nintendo's most lucrative audience.
I really just hope that Temtem will do well enough (obviously, pokemon isnt going anywhere) that it can support itself along side pokemon.
I'm pretty sure TemTem is not free to play - however they will be introducing a battle pass type system. Usually with those sort of things, there's a free tier to get some items, and a paid tier...
