Based on the development roadmap, it reads like it wants to be Eve Online without the graphics.

This sounds interesting - the payment model is something I haven't seen before. I very much like to see how well this payment structure works though.

It's very much worth trying, I love the pace of the game! I've got my production lines set up so I can basically log in on my bus to work and then again in the evening

Reminds me a bit of simcountry, which I played briefly a decade and a half ago. I liked the idea of it, but it was overwhelming. It had so many commodities and industries that it was hard to wade through it all. This looks like a similar idea, but much less overwhelming.

In simcountry you start with an existing country and you could fairly easily build just about any industry, so options opened up into analysis paralysis really quickly. I thought about creating a spreadsheet to analyze the profitability of all the different industries, but noped out at the size of the task.

From my very limited experience of Prosperous Universe (I set up an account last night) I like that you start small with very few options. Money and resources are tight, motivating a desire for specific things and giving a push in a certain direction. I also like that due to the time and cost of travel trading has a cost to it. It means you have to be more deliberate in what you buy and sell.
