GOG has a bunch of free, mostly classic games in their library, for anyone who's looking for some entertainment on the cheap. I can personally recommend Tyrian 2000. It's one of my favorite games...

I can personally recommend Tyrian 2000. It's one of my favorite games of all time. I first played it as a kid, and it's one of the few games I've returned to multiple times to replay over the years. It's a scrolling shooter with robust weapon loadouts, branching level pathways, charming writing, interesting secret levels, and a great soundtrack.

The GOG version works just fine with no hassle, but there is also a source port, OpenTyrian, for anyone on Linux or who might be interested in running it that way.

EDIT: While we're on the subject, here are all the free games on Steam sorted by user reviews. Many of these are not fully free: some of them are teasers, and some have microtransactions, and so on, but I figured I'd add them here.

Here are all the free games on itch.io. Same caveats as the Steam list, though you're much more likely to find a lot of smaller, more experimental titles in this list.

Here is a list of open-source video games.

Here is a list of freeware video games.

And here is a list of commercial games that have been released as freeware.

Supraland is on sale at -45%. I just bought it, had it wishlisted for a while. Day9 did a nearly full playthrough of it, what a fantastic game, ticks all the right boxes for me. It's like a Talos...

I'll second the Supraland recommendation! I recently played through it and absolutely loved it. The game is well worth its full price, much less its discounted one. Plus there's a demo if anyone...
