I admittedly didn't pay a ton of attention to the trailer so I'm not gonna die on this hill, but I interpreted the trailer and what the guy was saying in kind of the opposite way. I thought it was an acknowledgement that Russia's been fucking with us by way of disinformation, pushing for Trump to get elected, etc., although that doesn't really jive with the rest of the "we gotta fight communism!" vibe of the game.

If you can say a game had a big impact on you then you can just as easily say you hated a game's message.

There is a long history of games being produced to persuade people. PETA has an entire collection of protest games. And then there are games like Ethnic Clensing which don't even attempt to hide what they're promoting.
But even without these terrible examples, there are plenty of examples of games that try to teach life lessons to the player. I'm sure that if you haven't played Bioshock, you'd have at least heard of it and the ideas it tries to teach.
