This thing might actually be more powerful than my 2016 MacBook Pro, it's a beast! The fan is enormous. A nice change from my current PS4 Pro, which can sometimes get loud enough to drown out speaking voices. And the liquid metal thermal compound must be fairly expensive. What even is liquid metal though? Is it literally like a gallium or mercury compound or is it kind of a brand name or term of art for something else?

The dust catchers are another great addition, letting you vacuum out dust without needing to crack the whole thing open. Every consumer electronic item should have this, especially if they're going to make the devices hard to open (looking at Apple). I'm impressed by the value for money being crammed into this. It's a nice enough piece of kit that it would make me reconsider holding out a year for a future "slim" edition since those would almost surely be built to optimize for cost and not have a lot of these nice design touches.

It's likely just the TIM that AMD has been using for other Ryzen chips...they've been using high-quality stuff since the Ryzen 1 launch. It was irridium-based then, but might have evolved since.

The most interesting thing for me is what this suggests for AMD's new GPUs to be announced on October 28th. And hopefully sharing that architecture will result in more AMD focused optimizations...

The rest is standard PC fare wrapped in marketing hype. I do look forward to the jump in game graphics quality that accompanies the console launches though.

Edit: I'm kind of surprised none of the consoles have made the leap to liquid cooling...it would likely help with the noise in these smaller form factors.
