I think some people are trying to read into this interview that Bethesda games beyond their newest releases are going to be on PS5. I think that interpretation is being overly generous. Playstation has been an afterthought for Bethesda, particularly when it comes to the Elder Scrolls series, and that was before they were purchased by Microsoft.

To expect distant and unannounced Bethesda games to support PS5 is a bit silly. They're a Microsoft company now. They didn't buy Bethesda so they can use their games to sell Playstations. They're going to honor existing release agreements, and that's going to be the end of Bethesda on Playstation.

The hedging here can be reasonably assumed to be around Microsoft's Game Pass offerings. Bethesda games are going to be on Game Pass, and probably all flavors of Game Pass. That means Xbox, PC, and Cloud today. If Playstation gets any future Bethesda games, I would only expect to see them through some Game Pass on Playstation. Still paying Microsoft to play their games on someone else's hardware but through a marketplace Microsoft controls.

I didn't believe this would mean them being on Playstation for a second but it's gotta be said, that makes the statement extremely cynical. You can push your "games for everybody, regardless of platform" line all day long, Microsoft, but it rings a bit hollow the moment you buy a giant publisher just to not make their games available on the competing platform. Nobody benefits from this but Microsoft.
