Pretty crazy to think where battle royale is now -- I've only ever played it as an ARMA mod but it has basically taken over the FPS genre and seems like that trend is now increasing across new genres as well.
Is the demand really there or is this (the trend in general, not just this game) just another case of the game industry milking a popular trend for all it's worth?

I highly recommend watching the whole thing though (link to part 1). It's really good, and as a Software QA Analyst, Womble has a really interesting perspective on the whole thing.
Just to tack on there's three parts and some of it waffle about how he's procrastinated on it all but there is flow between the three if you're watching it all.
