Good. I used to play Roblox as a kid in the very early days and it's been exploitative and awful since the start.

Yeah, I told my sister not to let my nephew play it for the same reasons mentioned in the video. But beyond just paying for cosmetics and allowing kids to gamble with them, it also has all sorts of artificial gameplay limitations meant to push kids towards its microtransactions too. So it's really exploitative at almost every level.

This may sounds strange, but I kind of value it for exactly that reason. I have a child for whom playing various roblox games is one of their favorite activities, and it provides a convenient money sink that both makes them want to do chores in exchange for money, and it gives them some chances to have some not-so-great money decisions while they're still at the penny tables.

Nah, that's not strange at all. I could actually see that being beneficial too, so long as you actively pay attention to what your child is doing, and try to teach them about managing their spending habits. My sister probably wouldn't though, especially since she has impulse buy, spending habit issues herself (as do I). :P

And since my nephew had also previously managed to spend a bunch on iOS F2P games before his parents realized it (I have since showed them how to set up a child account with parental controls), that's also part of the reason I warned them away from Roblox. Plus, my nephew already has plenty of money sinks to help with chore motivation, thanks to his addiction to Lego, Playmobil, and everything Hockey related. ;)

Thankfully my nephew and his friends seem to prefer Minecraft anyways though, which has paid cosmetic items too, but is far less predatory about them. So him not being allowed to play Roblox hasn't been much of an issue.
