I would like to do more things while I am at the gym, but getting up even earlier isn't in the cards for various reasons. The idea of going back to the gym at the end of the day isn't appealing either. :-).

Maybe it is the short days, but at the end of the day it takes a lot more motivation for me to get to the gym.

I used to go to the gym in the morning to swim and then go back at lunch to lift. Our gym is about a 15 minute bike ride away so it was a great combination of about 30-40 minutes swimming, ~12 miles on the bike, and 35-45 minutes lifting. I only lift on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and it doesn't make me feel burned out on the gym.

In the last few months switched over to open ocean swimming in the mornings and it's been even better! Now I bike through lunch on Tuesday/Thursday which usually means I can get around ~20 miles to make up for the fact that only ride around 6 miles on the other days. It's given me more variation and I'm pretty happy with it! It does take a good amount of work flexibility though.

A little bit of "religion" each day. It makes a big difference in mood, especially during the winter.

I've been slowly getting back into the swing of things. Went on two 3+ mile walks this week so far and looking to get at least one day of weights in. A big motivator was getting a Garmin watch to track my activity. I think it's nice to have more of a breakdown of what I'm doing, and the watch has tracking modes for all the stuff I like doing including swimming. I'll probably get back to swimming next year ;) but in the mean time I'll continue to do my walk, maybe a couple of runs and try to keep up the momentum! An added bonus of the walks this time of year is all of the holiday lights out! I really love it, it's so pretty.
