Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
I gave up on biking for a while. My chain was grimey and it turns out that that’s the only excuse I needed to stop using it. I bought some chain lube but it took quite a while until I could get motivated to actually clean the chain and apply it. But now that I’ve done it, damn did it make a difference. It’s like a new bike! I also took some time to adjust the derailleur since it was having issues shifting, and I think it’s a bit better but it’s still not reliably shifting between the mid gears.
I really aught to preemptively buy some new brake pads and a derailleur hanger so that I don’t use those as excuses to not use it later on. Maybe a new chain too; one with a master link so I can take it off and soak it in degreaser next time.
I think your derailleur is probably gunked up too from letting the chain get so bad. A bike shop could help you out with it, but you could prob handle cleaning it by watching a youtube video.
Definitely get a removable chain. I soak mine in an ultrasonic cleaner maybe once a year or so and I bike a lot.
I think it’s just an adjustment that needs to be done. Previously the bike couldn’t get into its highest gear.
Honestly probably just need to replace that hanger already. It’s likely just bent.
I started going rollerblading at a skating rink lately.
I was really good at it when I was a kid, but I haven’t ever gone regularly and I’m finding my joints hurt in ways they didn’t when I was 10 and doing the same exact thing, haha.
Thinking about getting knee braces, before I hurt myself.
Today I took the first of 6 weekly classes covering weight loss and fitness.
