Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
My Apple Watch tells me I have an absolutely abhorrent VO2 level and my ongoing adult physical education is telling me that poor cardio performance is going to make strength training difficult later on, so I've decided to add a cardio day to my routine.
I knew I was bad, but getting on a bike to do cardio specifically was really humbling. I've had exhausting rides on my ebike, but my fitness tracker just assumes I'm a relatively healthy person, so the 141 BPM maximum I reached was only enough to get to heartrate zone 2 out of 5. I did it for 20 minutes - with 5 minutes warmup and 5 minutes cooldown. So yeah, this is going to be a long journey.
I was also completely drained yesterday and I assumed that it was from overtraining. I'm still new at this, of course. My training load according to the Fitness apps is still at +114%. So there's gonna be a lot of adaptation over a long period of time, that's for sure.
Edit: came back at the end of the day and did another go. I managed to get to a 151 BPM max. So maybe it won’t be too long of a road after all.
I decided 3 weeks ago that I need to reach normal BMI weight, which means a reduction of 8-10kg. So I've been trying to eat less and change nothing else.
It started well, I was seeing like 0.5kg reduction per week. But right now... about 7 days ago I stopped measuring my weight so I'm not sure where I'm at. Probably rebounded a bit. All in all, eating smaller portions is easy when you're focused but also the body and mind is always trying to restore the earlier energy levels, it seems.
Hello my sweet TFPs! I currently have two hockey classes and one roller derby flight school lesson under my belt and I am above and beyond over the moon with how it's been going.
Hockey: learning puck handling and stopping. Some things are definitely clicking better and I'm feeling better on the ice. The class is a 101 but apparently people take it again and again lol. So lots of skill levels there. Class has a 10min scrimage at the end and I didn't do it the first time but the second class I went for it. I managed to get to the puck and pass it to a teammate before someone else did! Very proud of myself lol. It's a lot of work and so sweaty, definitely consider it my workout for Mondays since it's an hour on ice.
Derby flight school: Also a huge workout! Super duper fun to do. Went through falling and stopping. Looking forward to the next one. The derby position is pretty low, so you're basically in a squat as you skate and do different skills. It was hard, but not harder than anything else I've been doing. My off skates workouts have helped me an insane amount. I barely even felt it the next day and it was an hour minimum of skating.
I'm just so proud of myself y'all. I'm really branching out and trying new things and between hockey and derby, it's made working out so much funner. I'm excited to see how everything goes the next week!
