Fitness Weekly Discussion
What have you been doing lately for your own fitness? Try out any new programs or exercises? Have any questions for others about your training? Want to vent about poor behavior in the gym? Started a new diet or have a new recipe you want to share? Anything else health and wellness related?
So I got a message on my Garmin smart watch today, which I have had since October 2022. It said 'good recovery'. I have never seen this before. Usually it says poor recovery...
Feels like lots of small changes I have been making (over more then a year) in my life are working. I haven't lost any weight (goal would be to. Loose 10-15kg) but some clothes are feeling looser around the butt/hips/thighs.
Defiantely feel like I am not stressed while also feel sleep quality has improved. Energy levels don't feel as drained and motivation has improved.
I kind of wished I tracked the changes better but some. Of what I recall are:
Viatamin D
Changed my bed for what feels like better spinal alignment
Lowered my carb intake
Not eat dinner late or as big meals. Trying to eat it 2-3 hours earlier (from 8-9 to 6ish (bedtime is about 9:30-10)
All really good changes! Congrats on feeling better! And coming to these changes on your own, improving health and fitness by yourself is such a hard thing to do.
I'm still grinding away bouldering, got into my first local comp and finished in the top third of entrants which wasnt too bad. I definitely recognized some shortcomings and where i need to improve, its much more obvious when i miss relatively easy points because my pistol squat needs work or my poor balance refuses to let me stand on one foot to get a final hold.
I've started already putting these learnings into practice and taking training more seriously after a bit of a lull/getting stuck. Im also eating more calories now which ive noticed really helps. Im crushing v5 boulders even at the 2hr gym mark.
Been a bit inconsistent last few weeks. Worked out in the morning before work, but only 2 days a week and using Apple Fitness strength videos (30 minutes).
This week I decided to go back to an older program I used during the pandemic, called 645. 45 minutes 6 days a week.
Whoa! I did not realize how inferior Apple Fitness really is. In 3 days, 645 reminded me how much I fell behind compared to my best shape 2-3 years ago. I gotta stick to this. It’s just so much more complete. Not just strength, but also mobility, stability, cardio, it has everything. Luckily I have the videos offline as I noticed they no longer sell this standalone and the only (legal) way to get it is via a Team Beach Body subscription, which I wouldn’t like. Anyway, feeling good and motivated!
