I really enjoyed Caravan Sandwitch on the PS5 when it first came out. Im always looking for games that utilize cars in some way. The physics arent great, youre not gonna be overlanding like in snowrunner but its still all very cozy and enjoyable and tells a cute little story.

Ive heard lots of good stuff about Cryptmaster and V Rising and have wanted to play the System Shock remake for a while so i might finally resub to choice for this month...

Thank you for the sweet graph/guide!

Congrats! Big ups! Any other confirmation that makes sense here! It is super exciting to be able to fit into smaller clothing. Funny enough, I too finally bought new jeans today to replace my 38's for 32's (i wore a belt that i had drilled new holes into to keep them up). Im super happy for you and i assure you that it feels as amazing every time you discover a lower size as it did the first time. There genuinely is no limit to how happy you can be with your progress, assuming you maintain a healthy attitude. Keep on keeping on!

Slower is probably really good advice tbh but i dont know how to run slower, if that makes sense? I feel like im as slow as can be right now, if i slow down anymore im practically walking which feels wrong? Though im willing to accept that thats entirely a mindset thing.

Im used to running 10k now as like a baseline but for some reason when i get just past that the pains begin. And i did work up to it over a fairly long period of time, thats why it feels so weird to just be getting constant joint pains now. Im now, injuries permitting, running twice a week at about that distance and twice more between 5-10k. I guess you're saying i have to slow it down even more if my body just aint getting with the program.

A question for any runners here: how tf do you get over pains that arise from the run? Ive recently started trying to run more and can do about 20km in 2 hours as long as one of the many joints in my legs doesnt start hurting so badly that i have to slow or stop entirely and take a week off after, which then means i fall out of it and do less kms/slower which isnt exactly inspiring. This is maybe the worst form of exercise lol

I have bought good, proper shoes and my form is not sloppy. I am in my mid-30's and have always shied away from ldr cause i was always too heavy

I agree with your last statement but i also dont see how the article doesnt say

it talked about putting down some of the weight we pick up on while still being conscious of our impact...

That is exactly what i got from the article so i dont really know where to go from here.

    The premise:

You cannot vote with your wallet. Or rather, you can, but you will lose that vote. Wallet-votes always go to the people with the thickest wallets, and statistically, that is not you.

The argument about the futility of fighting the system from within the system's confines:

"The market" exists to do "price discovery" and you've just discovered the price of your labor (less than you need to survive) and the cost of your home (more than you can afford). You voted with your wallet, and you lost. As Thatcher was fond of saying, "there is no alternative."

The argument that perhaps to achieve the end goal you need to shed the need to make it about yourself:

Rather than demanding this kind of change, we're supposed to vote with our wallets, making a fetish out of our personal consumption choices and scolding others as "lazy" or "cheap" if they don't quit Facebook or stop shopping at Walmart. This isn't just ineffective, it's counterproductive. Refusing to form solidaristic bonds with people suffering in the same way as you because they buy things you disapprove of means that you can't attain the solidarity needed to make the real change you're seeking.

Raise people up, rather than put others down:

And also! Make consumption choices that improve your life and the lives of people you love.

    Do it sustainably:

Do all this stuff – to the extent you can. Support your local bookstore, but don't forego buying and reading books you love because the store is a two hour drive and you only get there once a month.

    BONUS Buy my book:

last blog post before my Kickstarter to pre-sell the audiobook, ebook and hardcover of my next book, Enshittification, winds down.

I dunno, i guess we just read it differently. I could have done without the book sale but i do get it... kind of.

I think it is fair to think that a single vote doesnt actually make a difference when the sum of your spent energy towards the goal is to have cast that vote in the first place. The idea, atleast as i understand it is that you shouldnt draw the line of personal engagement with an issue at the non-purchase of a thing, you should take that wallet vote and turn it into some kind of advocacy on whatever scale seems reasonable to you.

At the same time, he says that you shouldnt burn yourself out by exclusively looking for ways to avoid companies because similarly to how avoiding a single purchase doesnt hurt the big company, making it does little to help either. So you shouldnt make blanket decisions and approach individual purchases without the context/importance around it. You'll get tired of constantly avoiding ways to wallet vote for companies you dont like and the whole weight of the issue shouldnt be entirely on your shoulders at all times of the day.

Do good, but realize that youre only human.

Its definitely just a cultural thing wrapped around a hit of sugar and desire to continue living post-treat. Im into it, sometimes i pack a snack (or a top of the mountain beer) and look forward to enjoying it at the high point of the hike, in a new place.

Fun read, thanks for sharing OP i just recently learned about the kvikk lunsj from a magnus midtbo collab video so this was a neat followup.

I mean... that's like saying: 2001: A Space Odyssey had 10 minutes of material packed into 2 hours. I personally do the opposite and accept long form explanations of simple topics because the reverse has a high likelihood of fumbling the ball. Very rarely can complex ideas be explained succinctly without missing nuance.

I am genuinely shocked that some people don't get this video, either its presentation or the importance of its subject matter. Joe Rogan, whether you like him or not, is not a comedian anymore. He is a cultural vein that the government and billionaires have tapped as a direct connection to the people that they have never been able to previously reach in such numbers; the pseudo-independent "self thinkers" and skeptics and consolidated these Qanoners into a group more digestible by the larger public: podcast listeners. This is a big vein, it arguably helped the president win the election and that means this is something worth studying and not just drama about a comedian. Through Joe theyre able to present their ideas and set their agendas in a way that somehow slips through the audience's natural defences for bullshit. Is Joe so deeply invested in this culture because of pure interests and ignorance towards what he's doing or has he willingly entered the bed with the very people he and his audience would previously categorize as the worst kind of spooks? If the former, how could he have been led to this slaughter and do his new ideas, perspectives, and friends create such a dissonance internally that he's crafted a reality around him that justifies what he's doing? Its a wonderfully thoughtful exploration of modern money, power, and influence in the current day. We live in a time where the propaganda needed for the justification of a war or the talking points around a highly scrutinized public figure are handed out to podcast hosts first and they take it because theyre just happy to seem important.

I'm curious to know what parts of the world people are from that dont get the humorous framing of the video and if it is a cultural thing. Have you never sat around with friends bullshitting conspiracies and drawing connections to things late into the night? Do you have trouble identifying and/or enjoying satire or critique? Maybe the beginning of the video is difficult because you dont have the context to know why you need to be thankin' or who david lucas is or why you should care and by the time you get into the JR stuff youre frustrated with the long wind up?

Soy curls are awesome and super versatile. I honestly cant believe how much i like them and the meaty texture.

Also, air frying tofu is definitely a game changer. I like mixing buldak sauce and mayo (vegan if you prefer) as a really simple sauce to finish/texturing the tofu at the end.

On YouTube, i find Derek Sarno to be a pretty good source of inspiration or just straight copy his recipes. There's a few folks making solid vegan/vegetarian recipes nowadays with good protein.

For good breakfast protein, i do really suggest baked oats. Might have been overdone on social media a while ago but theyre really easy and a refreshing mix to the usual breakfast palette.

But that's kind of the issue isnt it? An llm is able to write one independently because its built off of repositories like bear blog...

In this case youre just moving the profit and community interaction from an individual to a massive, government meddling corporation. There is no qualm here with people building their own microblogging platforms, even using his source as inspiration or whatever. Its with bad actors who are now just rewarded by the system. Its an emotional, knee jerk reaction to the reality of foss or creative enterprise in general these days.

I guess i dont see a line between critics/film industry people and the people directly tied to the making of the film. Its all one big club and i cant help but feel like theyre not just clapping for the movie, but also for their ability to "discern" what makes a good movie. By providing the ovation for that long theyre aware of the publicity they are creating and you could say, are involving themselves in the creative process/clapping for themselves. Queue the "I was there during the standing ovation for the Smashing Machine" stories.

I am aware it is a very roundabout thought process but it's my explanation for why i wrote self congratulatory.

The Scorpion King cast is finally getting recognized!

Seriously though, 15 minutes is a bit excessive. It makes sense for stage plays because actors will come out and do flowers and bows and whatever and everyone is just hyped from having performed and sometimes out of breath/winded so its an energy thing.

Seems strange in a movie setting, dude's already spent the money he got paid on the cocaine and hookers long ago, let alone felt the excitement of being part of the thing. A little late for an ovation that long, too performative and self congratulatory to me.

Hello! Its been a while since i posted here as i was just coasting. Im back on the saddle with specific fitness goals in mind. Firstly, there's a 23km long continuous path from near my house to downtown that I want to run one day before work. To set a baseline: i ran 14.65km of it yesterday in 1.5 hours. My feet were exhausted and my joints hurt but honestly i had a lot of gas in the tank otherwise. So i think better shoes might go a long way. Thats the furthest ive ever run in one session, and it was outdoors! Im pretty excited.

My second goal is a particular boulder called Majestic in Squamish. Its a v6 and i climb about v4 right now in the gym so i dont have an unreasonable hill to climb there. My technique has really improved and with a ton of stretches i havent been hurting myself lately and having to take long breaks between sessions. Id like to do this boulder because deep water soloing sounds very exciting. And cool! Also falling into water sounds way better than a crashpad.

So for the running ive been looking into watches lately to help keep track of everything. I could buy a cheaper watch but i go hiking fairly often and its be really nice to be able to look at the watch to check next directions rather than having to pull out the phone and burn its battery. Does anyone know how effective the mapping is for trails on garmin, etc? The fenix 7 seems like best bang for buck if i can still find one and discounted but maybe someone else will know better? Everytime i look at them i go "well itd be really nice to have that fitness feature but its only available on this X$ more expensive one." I should start out small but watches are hella expensive even for the low end ones so an investment means i have to use this thing for years. Which justifies a larger investment. But thats so much money for a watch! Does anyone have positive stories about how a watch genuinely helped them reach their goals? Or is it just a tool to post stuff youre already capable of to social media?
