I tried but it started off annoying and every place I skipped to was someone talking with this "we've created the greatest thing of all time" energy and it's like… you made a Peter Molyneaux game, it's going to be a game that's got some die-hard fans and the rest of us will collectively shrug our shoulders and go "sure, okay."
Although given the quality of some games these days, if Molyneaux can deliver his usual "shoot for the moon, land among the stars" it'll be GotY. If it doesn't require DLC in the first six months, it'll be a success in my books.
Sadly, I don't think Peter Molyneux is involved with the new Fable in any way. So, those who are expecting to be overpromised and disappointed may end up, well... disappointed? But fear not,...

Sadly, I don't think Peter Molyneux is involved with the new Fable in any way. So, those who are expecting to be overpromised and disappointed may end up, well... disappointed?
But fear not, Molyneux is working on a game that he has described as the culmination of his life's work. Because of course he has. And to be fair, as far as I'm concerned, with the portfolio that he has created he has fully earned the right to make bold statements and dream beyond what is realistic. I know some see it as problematic, but I just see him as inspirational. We need more dreamers, and fewer PR people, making games.
I have never minded the products delivered, I just don’t need the hype. I have a standing rule with my friends: the more you love something and want me to give it a shot, the less you should hype...

My favorite Fable game is Fable II, because I really enjoyed the blacksmith and bartending mini games and property ownership mechanics.
I can definitely understand that, although I’m sort of the opposite. I love it when people are passionate, at least as long as that passion is positive and not uncontrollably obtrusive. It doesn’t...

I can definitely understand that, although I’m sort of the opposite. I love it when people are passionate, at least as long as that passion is positive and not uncontrollably obtrusive.
It doesn’t mean that I believe the hype, of course. I just like to see people enthusiastic about something, even if I know it won’t be for me. And sometimes, especially in the case of creative passion, the love and enthusiasm can filter through in a way that makes me thoroughly enjoy something that, in terms of the underlying experience, or political, philosophical, religious or whatever view, I don’t necessarily agree with.
Well, there's excited and passionate and there's hype. Passion and excitement I get from friends. Hype I get from people who just want to push their thing and don't much care who else likes it,...

Passion and excitement I get from friends. Hype I get from people who just want to push their thing and don't much care who else likes it, they just want everyone to enjoy it. It usually comes from a good place, but I've had enough of that come from some very dark motivations that it puts my hackles up.
To give an example, a good friend of mine is currently very excited about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and wants to read the books and watch the show with me and have a discussion. I'm not being given the hard sell, I'm being asked to participate in a thing with a friend, and I'm inclined to give it a shot, despite so far having no love lost between my tastes and the works of GRRM.
Meanwhile several coworkers have been trying to sell me on various anime for the last couple of years, and I've ignored every suggestion because the tack has been "you should watch this because it's good" and honestly, I stopped liking most anime about 20 years ago. I've only had a handful anime in the past 20 years manage to hook me, and I found them all myself, no outside recommendations. So far, yeah, nothing lives up to the hype.
Did you follow Curiosity and Godus? That was, for lack of a better term, a rug pull that to this day makes me question his environmental ability to make something big splashy and cool. That said,...

That said, I sure hope I'm wrong! I love he's returning to his roots making a strategy game, I bet his next big thing could be a hell of an amazing game for a very particular niche which, as others said, we certainly need more of!
I ignore Peter unless he’s featured in a segment from Checkpoint by Loading Ready Run. He’s not in the linked video but the Fable reboot is featured as a story.

On the flip side, I'm quite glad he isn't involved. I'm still burnt from that mining clicker thing (Curiosity) and the, imo, utter failure that godus was. Since this is a remake I don't see the need for dreams, I'm hoping it's a bunch of fans that passionately create the ultimate Fable they've always wanted without a bunch of scope shifting and empty promises.
I do have to pay my respects, he has made amazing things, I think he'll keep making good things, but I also feel he suffers from George Lucas syndrome. He lost his humility and ran out of people to challenge his genius, when he's just the kind of genius that needs some reins.

There's not a lot of in depth details here but if we go off what they promise, as is Fable tradition, it sounds good. The idea that morality is more subjective and not just a black and white system could be interesting, though I suspect that it's more simplistic than they would have me believe. They also seem to recognize some of the fun side-game aspects of the original games, in particular the 1st/TLC/anniversary where I suspect some things weren't fully intended, like buying all the properties, since some of those you had to get villagers to follow you out of town and then leave them. I'm sure the killing of the villagers and buying their property probably was more anticipated however. In any case, if they manage to include some fun side things to do but aren't necessary it could be fun. It's been awhile since I've played Fable 3, and even longer since Fable 2 because those games have become so inaccessible over time, so I don't really remember them as well.

The individual developers are filmed as if they are just spontaneously talking and laughing, all so pleasant and smiling and happy, but of course they obviously just follow a script in which they often end each others sentences.
Look at the two guys talking here, it's filmed as if they are Pluribus aliens. It gives me the creeps.😶

Underdelivering and all, they're still fun games. I have fond memories of farming "evil" acts against NPCs I didn't like so I could look how I wanted without being a baddie in the story lmao.

This looks really good.
What I loved about the original Fable (never played 2 and 3) was that it felt super real. You really felt like you were a part of the world and the world was coherent and functional. The fantasy setting + realness + lasting changes totally fascinated me. I replayed The Lost Chapters around 2012 and I still very much enjoyed it. Sad part is that I never got an Xbox so I could never play 2 and 3. My memory of Fable is thus very much rooted in nostalgia.
Still, looking at the footage makes me very hopeful that they can recreate that feeling. The town and the characters feel so much alive and real. Cannot wait to play it!

Im looking forward to this. Playground knocked it completely out of the park when they took on the Forza franchise. I think the primary reason for those games getting stale is entirely because of Microsoft's production team's conservative decision making. Im hoping that theres less interference on this one until Microsoft sees that they have an easy recurring revenue stream with incremental, inoffensive sequels. I think this is going to be a solid game.
My wallet and myself are prepared to be overpromised and underdelivered to. As is Fable tradition.
