This post is quite interesting, and there is a lot of appeal of the Amish lifestyle to outsiders...not least of which is that it's far more sustainable than our current lifestyles. And hearing more about their healthcare is nice, and it does highlight the flaws in our current system.
But as someone who was grew up near the Amish, I do think it's important to mention that the same religious adherence and isolation that facilitates articles like this also has substantial dark sides as well. Their population has been inbreeding for generations. They have an abhorrent rape and abuse culture. Child brides are still very much a thing.
Yes, there are some aspects of their culture that are worth preserving. But on the whole, they are very much a dangerous cult by modern standards, and glorifying them brushes their dark underbelly under the rug.
