"ICU delirium" is leaving COVID-19 patients scared and confused

    I wonder if knowing what can happen beforehand can help, sort of like taking LSD voluntarily vs somebody saying "this'll make you feel good" and blasting you off into psychological discomfort....

    I wonder if knowing what can happen beforehand can help, sort of like taking LSD voluntarily vs somebody saying "this'll make you feel good" and blasting you off into psychological discomfort. Obviously, nobody gets a choice to go into ICU, there can't be a psychological briefing beforehand, but I'd venture that just normalizing the experience could help at least a few people with the capacity to check themselves to do so, maybe help people stay grounded in reality when their sedative-addled brains start getting weird. Not knowing this sort of delirium is possible could prime us to lose the proverbial war before it's started, and it doesn't seem like something that was common knowledge to the layperson before this pandemic.
