While my apartment gym has served me well for the past month, the hours being tied to our rental office and the size of it pushed me to get a real gym membership. For the past month, my workout schedule for the week has been two days of strength training, two days of running, and two days of yoga. Getting over 10,000 steps in a day as well. And trying to maintain a manageable calorie deficit while meeting my protein goals.

It's tough but progress is being made. For running, I have been doing 3-4 mile runs and have improved my pace each time I have gone out. My progress has been from 12:24/mile to 11:09/mile to 9:47/mile and finally to 8:52/mile. I'm frankly enjoying my running workouts the most since I burn the most calories in the shortest amount of time compared to the other two workouts. But the main goal for me is to establish a routine that improves my flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance/strength, and my body composition.

I think my biggest challenge right now is the gym component. I don't usually have a pre-determined goal of working specific areas, but rather I do what I find is open. Sometimes I can do dumbbell workouts while other times I am relegated to machines. I'm working to find the magical time when the gym is most empty so I have my selection of things to do.

I haven't been working myself into a heavy sweat from exercise in a long time - probably not since the lockdown took the wind out of me. With my current course (pr stage 1, at least) coming to an end and near-zero prospect of relevant jobs in the near future, the constant worrying hasn't been helping either. Either I'm going to have some particularly bad months ahead or I'm going to be exercising like crazy. I know which is better, and which is more likely.

So, I've basically replaced the pull-ups/rows from my previous workout with single-arm kettlebell rows in order to let my left elbow heal up (I hope). Overall, I'm doing 12 sets of 10 reps per side. Kinda hard to keep the body in a stable, consistent position. Feeling it more in my upper back and lower back, so far. Not really in the lats. Guessing that's because my lats are overdeveloped compared to those muscles from all the deng pull-ups I've been doing. Anyhow...I kinda like feeling those other muscles getting some work in. :)

Beyond that... a whole lotta walking.
