I really liked the final game. It turns things around, *finally* rewarding aggressively going for flags, which is how the game should have been designed in the first place. I liked the towers mechanic and hope they will bring it back, but this whole season would have been better without the challenges as implemented.
And I really am not just saying this because I'm a Team Adam fanboy or something. I was cheering for Team Sam on the two previous seasons!

The back and forth between Ben and Scotty was great. I bet that felt amazing for Scotty, like he had finally redeemed himself. But I'm also kinda confused about where they both went after that. We didn't see anything more from them after Scotty got the flag across the line. So I wonder what they were doing while Adam was trying to intercept Sam.

Kinda disappointed in Sam though, TBH. Not only did he fail to consider Adam using Towers to prevent his escape, despite getting caught in them before, but he then immediately messed up when he got off the other train. Then to top it off he just sat around for 30 min under a bridge by the train station waiting to get caught. I wish he had at least tried to avoid Adam and sneak by him to escape on foot. :(
Spoiler Yeah, Sam definitely blundered in his strategy. Though to be fair, he was concerned about getting caught out in the rain without a jacket/umbrella. I really thought Ben would get his pizza...

I really thought Ben would get his pizza in time, but this final round is getting intense.

That was an intense, and action packed episode! The back and forth, and tower drop after tower drop, was hilarious. I also loved how Ben and Adam dropped the mud tower at the end just for the lulz. I would have liked to see them actually get to the flag, and that curse was a cruel twist of fate considering how well they were doing up to that point. But I am also glad they lost that round so we can get the sudden death overtime. Really looking forward to seeing how it ends.... so much so I am probably going to subscribe to Nebula again just so I don't have to wait. :P

I enjoyed that they almost pulled it off, but I felt like this episode highlighted a serious flaw in the design of
this season's game. As a viewer, it's not satisfying to me that a capture the flag game (round) might be "won" by simply not making any effort whatsoever to capture the flags. Once the opponent is behind, the catch-up mechanics are inadequate; stopping for challenges is high risk and when caught you lose everything. But if you have nothing, you can't cover the distance required for being not-behind anymore! It was America all over again (except with reversed teams).
New Zealand thus remains my favorite for how it felt fair and balanced all the way through.
Yeah, that's a fair criticism. The choke points in this season were also pretty unfair, and heavily favored the defenders. But totally "fair" rules aren't always the most entertaining thing to...

I also feel like it would have made more sense to award points based on the number of flags successfully brought back as opposed to a lump sum, but I'm also glad we got the sudden death game.

It's an interesting season this time. I like the way they've mixed up the formula. Lots of back and forth and opportunities for mixups.

I super appreciate y'all introducing me to this series... I binged the entire season in a single day. The game seems like incredible fun.
That Totoro challenge killed me. I am now dead.
This week's (Nebula) episode has made me excited for the rest of Round 3 - lots of ducking and weaving on the trains
