My two sweet potatoes have a couple of tiny slips starting up. I wasn't at all sure this experiment would work, but I'm encouraged. (The secret of my success: every day I hang over them and chant, "Go, go, sweet po-ta-to!") Now they need to keep growing, a LOT, and some day they can move out to the garden in anticipation of a long, hot summer.
RIP avocado. But our kids got to watch the miracle of life and now we'll have baby shrimpies in the tank soon.
Avocado has been replaced with several green onions. They're great, basically infinite greens.
I’ve put in three trees! I put in a sun valley maple and two Japanese cherry trees, one that blooms white, and one that blooms pink. The maple is about 10ft tall, one cherry is about 7 feet tall, and the last cherry is just a little guy, maybe 4 feet tall. I’m super excited to watch these grow!
I also picked up a couple of spirea shrubs and a lilac shrub. I’ll be putting those along my fence line in my back yard.
I’m still planning to start a native plant garden, but I’m going to either do that later this summer or next year. With my upcoming vacation, money and time is a little tight, but I at least wanted to get the trees in now, you know the saying.
