For anyone interested in seeing part of the Limes system in person, I was considering visiting Saalburg. It might be a bit touristy, but would probably be a good visit. They even have a restaurant with Roman(ish) cuisine. There's another place that I know of in Switzerland that I was looking at that's an open-air museum of the oldest Roman colony on the Rhine.
Hah. Over Christmas/New Years I stopped watching Invicta and all the other military history YouTubers I normally watch while I caught up on a bunch of TV shows I had fallen way behind on, but I'm...
Hah. Over Christmas/New Years I stopped watching Invicta and all the other military history YouTubers I normally watch while I caught up on a bunch of TV shows I had fallen way behind on, but I'm done with that now so am slowly catching up on my YouTube vids again (hence this being a month old). :P
I haven't had the opportunity to visit any of the Roman frontier sites on mainland Europe, but I did go check out several spots along Hadrian's wall, Roman Vindolanda, and the connected Roman Army Museum, while I was living in the UK. Hadrian's and Vindolanda, being mostly ruins, are probably not as impressive as Saalburg likely is, but I would still recommend checking them out if you're ever in the UK and into this sort of thing.
