Ever since I first heard about these, I've wanted to track one down that I can see my house on and have it framed on my wall. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is about them, but the uniqueness, the history, and the slightly sinister edge make for something that just fascinates me.
Same goes for roentgenizdat, the bootleg vinyl that was cut into old x-ray plates - which makes for a great juxtaposition to the maps, as an act of joyful protest rather than a preparation for war.
