I think TED talks could work well as a teaser that gets you interested in learning more about something new. The problem is that there's often nowhere to go next, no suggested reading to dive in deeper. As a result, the inspiring aspect of them isn't really motivating - it mostly serves as entertainment rather than a call to action.
