It’s 100% the way to go. Deacons are allowed to be married. It wasn’t until a few hundred years ago that priests were expected to be celibate and it was purely due to the church not wanting to support entire families. Requiring priests to be male and single are both horrible stances (among others) the Catholic Church has that should be forgotten.
