    Basically it's a demographic study about how the diversity in America's major urban centers is beginning to disperse into the countryside and the impacts this can have on society and culture.

    I'm actually not sure how much of the statistical demography is due to dispersion versus just native born Americans dying off or moving to cities, leaving a larger proportion of foreign born immigrants behind. But either way it's an interesting trend.

      I think tfa suggests not urban -> rural, it’s more NYC -> des moine. That is, movement from us biggest cities to smaller, but still large, cities in the “heartland.”

        Yeah. I've read other stories about how it's wreaking havoc on real estate markets because peoples' housing budgets when they come from big cities are so high that if enough people move in they can easily raise real estate prices by, like, 30% within a couple of years.
