First of all, I just have so much appreciation for Erin Reed. She has so much mental fortitude to continue to engage with and debunk anti-trans myths in such a clear and well-researched manner, and it equips us with the knowledge to push back against these ideas when they come up in an interpersonal context. I kind of view Erin like Stephanie Sterling of Jimquisition who I watched when I was a bit more of a gamer, putting out content that often harps on the same topic for the goal of wider knowledge and change within their area of advocacy. I just have so much respect for that.

But yeah, It's just sad to see how far these false narratives have been taken to the point where they're being used as justification for the denial of life-saving medical care to an entire group of people. They're not even following the narrative anymore that this is just in the interest of "protecting" children. Another ErinInTheMorning article outlines how MTG is wanting to cut funding for hospitals that broadly provide gender affirming care. Either US representatives are just purely hateful, which I don't put past them in the slightest, or they're banking on the notion that discrimination against a minority population will win them votes. Something that I'm not even sure is true due to polls like this one from Data for progress, this one from Fox of all places, and this one from PBS.

I could be wrong, I'm not very well versed in political science, but looking at polls like that makes me think Republicans are losing ground on their culture war issues, and whether it be due to personal vendetta's against the LGBTQ+ community or some notion of popularity they're rushing through committee and investigation and legislation in a sort of gish-gallop of policy that aims to get passed due to sheer volume of it's presence rather than the actual want by their constituents. Sick.

As an American who has lived through a number of election cycles, my take is that the Republicans are the dog that caught the car re abortion and lgbtq issues. I do think that they are alienating swing voters and also if there are any fiscal conservative republicans anymore, they are probably a bit disgusted as well.

I will say that the religious fanatics are passionate about their opinions. I hope we can defeat them in the next elections.

They've done a great job at throwing FUD out there though. I'm sure they've converted a lot of uneducated people into bigots with just how much hatred they spew. They're also keeping a very tight leash on the conservative crowd with constantly changing fears. It's frankly impossible to have a rational discussion with anyone that watches conservative media. They continually shift from unsubstantiated issue to unsubstantiated issue until they finally blow up and say you're just brainwashed.

Speaking specifically about transgender people, I don't think it's possible to overstate the amount of FUD that is out there. I agree with you there.

Myth 4 is the most commonly encountered one I have heard off the internet, conservatives I know say that not enough research has been done in regards to "rapid onset gender dysphoria". They fall back on just claiming they just want due diligence done and don't want to rush changes for kids, I try to counter that trans kids have generally have thought about it for years and puberty blockers are safe and reversible if necessary (I'm not a doctor though so I am not that confident in talking about medical interventions).
I am Australian though so this has yet to translate into legislative obstructions here yet.
