First of all, transgender women are not men.
Second of all, there is no evidence that transgender women are more likely to assault someone than anybody else.
Third of all, a cisgender man could walk into a women's bathroom and assault someone before anybody noticed they went in. It's not like there's guards posted outside. If you're worried about assaults in women's bathrooms then keep the men out. Don't discriminate against people who have nothing to do with it.

Maybe this is super short sighted, but I think this is one of those issues they just need to draw a line and say, Okay. This is how it is going to be. Then when people complain - This is still how it is going to be. Way more important things to worry about than what bathroom a person uses.

The only thing I think should be a compromise is maybe have designated family restroom with a changing table. That way parents don't have to explain things to their kids too early or worry about people abusing anything.

Either way - Draw a line, and let's move on.

Since you weren't clear in your comment, do you believe that transgender people should be able to use the bathroom most comfortable to them - that is, a trans woman can use the women's restroom - or not? Additionally, what's difficult to explain to children about trans people? "Some people are a different gender on the inside than people thought they were, so they're changing themselves to look more like how they are inside."

I think they should use whatever makes them comfortable, and to appease anyone else have a one person family room with a changing table. And call it done. Too much wasted energy on this topic.
