Coincidentally I have been watching some videos on his channel because he does some of the things I'd like to do out of idealism, but watching them has really convinced me not to do it. They start off looking really fun and by the time I'm about halfway through I just feel secondhand tiredness.

I also don't think he's very aware of all the safety implications of what he does. I watched him assemble a battery pack and I worked myself into a tizzy watching how many times he did things that could have risked his giant pile of batteries exploding, such as soldering two giant braids of wire onto the battery pack and drilling holes into the case he put the batteries in while the batteries were in it.

Seeing him reach his goals is inspirational, but he's really not a good role model.

I think the things he is good at he is very good at, and he does an ok job of noting when he is out of his element, like in this video where he talked about how he got a real electrician to do the important work. But I definitely agree that sometimes he makes some bad choices. I like that he doesn't hide it when he makes mistakes. People should definitely be careful about building what he is building, though, and not just try to do the exact same things; read the comments and figure out when he's making bonehead decisions!

Sure, but comments aren't a reliable source of information; I'd rather there be a disclaimer on there whenever he does something needlessly dangerous. He clearly knows some of the things he's doing is dangerous and I'd rather he make it clear so kids don't try to reproduce what he does.

... I say pretending there's a bunch of kids out there who has parents who let them play with welding equipment and power tools.
