    To ask the obvious stupid question, shes the PM so surely she can help push through legislation on this? I get the PM protesting is a powerful image but they look like they are protesting against...

    To ask the obvious stupid question, shes the PM so surely she can help push through legislation on this?

    I get the PM protesting is a powerful image but they look like they are protesting against themselves in some way since they run the society where this cause for protest has emerged.

    Get the legislation through so protest is not needed. <~~ this is my gut reaction but hopefully someone can explain the Icelandic politics that means it’s not so trivial.

    Is it meaningless PR?

    What was this PM’s take on this before?

    What platform did they get elected on? Was gender issues part of it?

      I would expect a PM of either gender to show solidarity "to draw attention to the country’s ongoing gender pay gap and widespread gender-based and sexual violence"
