For those who don’t know, the franchise has had a very wild history. The last two movies in the series were made for as little money as possible and barely released. They were only made so that Dimension Films could keep the rights because they had to produce a film every x years to keep the rights.
Having recently watched all of the films in the series, minus the last two that were just ashcan films, I have to say this looks pretty good.
I like the weird different “forms” of the lament configuration. That’s a neat twist. I also like the design of the minions, especially the chatterer. Visually, it looks way better than any of the films in the franchise for the last 20 years.
And if it isn’t good? No great loss. The series has a pretty low batting average anyway (even when compared to other horror series). Beyond the first three, they are all uniformly terrible.
Worth noting that Clive Barker only had a real hand in the first two movies and just got the copyright for this back in the last couple of years. Which is why this is actually generating buzz and...
