A24 has previous made their titles available on Netflix, Prime, Showtime, and even Apple TV+ in the past too though, so who knows where The Whale will ultimately end up. However, rather than guessing, you can always just sign up for a notification on JustWatch or Trakt, and they will let you where you can watch it when the time comes.
