It's a shame Shazam 2 was DOA because the first was excellent. It was the first DCEU movie that I felt actually worked and offered something special. The family dynamic of Billy Batson's foster family was so dang wholesome. It just felt like WB/DC had finally figured out what they were doing and were on the verge of offering a product that could genuinely compete with the MCU.

Dark Phoenix in 2019 had something similar happen. I remember the cast went on Jimmy Kimmel and Kimmel spoils that Mystique dies in that movie. The cast was taken aback but it wasn’t a mistake. Kimmel is too much of a company man to do that. So most likely he was instructed to talk about it. It’s an interesting strategy honestly.
