I love this movie. I saw it in the theatre when it came out and they had dinner at Taco Bell which was the one restaurant left standing after the Franchise wars. A later DVD release changed this to Pizza Hut which is owned by the same parent company. I thought that was so sell-out and authentic to what the movie was trying to say at the same time.

What’s funny about it to me is that Pizza Hut is a dead brand in my city, we sometimes see ads for some strange kind of pizza at the Hut on TV from Syracuse but Pizza Hut went out of business in Ithaca, it went out of business in Cortland, the nearest one is in… Syracuse which is about an hour away and if I’m going to go that far for a chain restaurant it will probably be to The Cheesecake Factory.
We still have a Taco Bell but the space it used to share with Pizza Hut on the Ithaca Commons now has an independent tacquiera which is famous for its calabacitas and the other side of the parking lot our Bell is attached to is next to a street taco booth which is the closest thing to a street taco from Los Angeles as I’ve seen outside Los Angeles.
In my neck of the woods, Pizza Hut is thriving while Taco Bell is shrinking, and Del Taco (which was always superior in quality) is trying for a comeback.

It was changed because Taco Bell was virtually unknown to non-American audiences.
