Went to see the Taylor Swift Eras Tour show at a local drive-in. The music was pretty great, of course (assuming that is your cup of tea) and the production of the show was amazing. We lost count of the costume changes, but there were enough that, according to my daughter, "I can be Taylor Swift for Halloween for the next 20 years."

As an engineer, I'm extremely jealous of the team that got to design and build that stage, which appears to be a giant screen, in addition to the motorized pedestals.

There is a quality to live music that I really love, and this was no exception. However you feel about her music, she has an amazing presence on the stage and screen.

I see now why people paid so much money for the live show. I am sure it was amazing. But the movie was definitely worth the ticket (which cost $19.89, ha!).

I'm not a fan of the pop versions of Taylor Swifts songs, but I was pleasantly surprised by her Tiny Desk concert. Not every pop star can look and sound good playing acoustic guitar.

Saw The Holdovers on Sunday (it was an early access screening).

I’ve been looking forward to it for a while now since I’m a big fan of Payne.

It’s his riff on a classic studio crowd-pleaser, think Green Book, but with the social commentary being slightly more subtle and more focused on class.

I liked it. It’s not as introspective on the human condition as his work on Sideways and Nebraska were. But it’s also not trying to be. It’s main goal is to be warm, to touch your heart, and I think it accomplishes it.

I'd never questioned what I believed this film was. The saccharine image I had of it was quickly put to bed in the early scenes and from there I just went with the rollercoaster. It's not a masterpiece, but its greatest when it's at its rawest. A patchwork film of disparate scenes; often simplistic but also nuanced.
