I'm glad to see another MMA focused movie, and a fighter biopic from A24 starring the Rock is certainly exciting!
However, from having watched The Smashing Machine many years ago, IMO Mark Kerr's life simply isn't all that interesting, other than the injuries and addiction part (which almost every oldschool fighter had issues with). Whereas his old, batshit-crazy coach Bas Rutten, who seemingly every oldschool fighter has insane anecdotes about (even Kerr), would make for a much better subject for a biopic. Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, and a ton of other Hall of Famers could also make for some damn interesting biopics too though, but I suppose the Rock wouldn't be able to play any of them. About the only other semi-well-known, successful fighter who the Rock kinda looks like, and has the body type to play is Alistair Overeem.
p.s. Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP) could have played a great Bob Sapp. In fact, he's about the only actor I can think of that is anywhere close to Sapp's size. :P
