Is this a proper blockbuster with all that entails? Any thoughts on Guy Ritchie's other films?

I've always considered this the Ritchiest Ritchie movie of its era, the refinement of a concept put forward in Lock Stock and fully-realized with an extremely apt cast. The dialog is hilarious and snappy, and everyone seems like they're having a blast filming it. I'm fairly certain this movie is why we know who Jason Statham is at all; he has had bigger projects since but this one helped to define him in the eyes of cinema. For a certain period of my youth I could not go a day without one of my friends tossing out a quote from this film.

In no way do I consider this a blockbuster. It has a budget of 10M dollars, it made less than 100M dollars worldwide. It was a box office hit, but a blockbuster it was not. It’s a good movie...

It’s a good movie though, it’s fun, it’s stylish. Brad Pitt is great in it with an incredible accent. It’s one of Ritchie’s best. A lot of funny lines “No one speaks English here I thought this country invented the damn language.”

It has been ages since I last saw Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and I want to revisit it now, as it has many of the same elements. I too found it very stylish and funny. I loved the creative editing and the random flow of events in the script made everything fit together nicely, despite the absolute unpredictable chaos along the way.
