Hopefully this means they're slowing down on live-action remakes in general.

Hopefully this means they're slowing down on live-action remakes in general. Unless they decide to adapt Atlantis. That one has potential to be genuinely epic, way too underrated.

It'll be on pause until Lilo & Stitch makes a billion dollars

Yeah, interestingly, that and Treasure Planet would both make far more sense to me as live-action remakes. They're cult-classics, that underperformed on their first runs and deserve a second chance, and both have the kind of more mature storytelling that just feels suitable for live-action. Thinking about it, it's likely because they were both made intentionally to not feel like a traditional Disney animated feature, so they don't feel as ingrained in the medium as their other animated movies do.

With Atlantis specifically, I'd also be interested because it'd let them touch up some parts of the original story that sadly don't hold up as well. There's a few parts of the plot that could be better explained, and the role of Kida could be altered just a little to make Milo not feel as much of a 'white savior' as he comes across in the original film. I tried rewatching it with my wife recently - who hadn't seen it before - and while I still loved it, she correctly pointed out that Kida is really underutilized as a main character, and that Milo way too easily achieves a lot of the things he does in the film, further undermining the importance and agency of Kida as a character. It'd be fun to see it redone with a more fleshed-out story giving Kida more importance in the actual text of the story, rather than just implied importance.
