I laughed at some of the jokes and gags. Now my concern is if those were all the funny parts. I hope not so im going to forget about this until it comes out.
Akiva Schaffer doesn't usually miss so I'll give this one the benefit of the doubt.
I have mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand I'm tired of all the reboot/remake/legacy sequel nonsense that we're swimming in these days; on the other hand I miss big-studio pure comedies like this. So I'll probably go see it and I really hope it ends up being good (hard to tell where it will land from this trailer, but seems promising).
Totally my thought too. I'm still on the fence on whether I'll see it in theaters though.
That trailer genuinely had me cracking up, hopefully the actual movie delivers! The Naked Gun series is my all time favorite movie series (well maybe tied with Airplane!).
The Spirit Halloween part got a legitimate belly laugh out of me.
I think part of the fun of Naked Gun is that not every joke lands for every person, but there's so many of them that you really only have to wait a minute or two before another joke will get you so hopefully they do the same here.
Also, I'm convinced there's a sort of meta joke around Liam Neeson replacing Leslie Nielsen and their names sounding similar.
Before watching the trailer I thought to myself "Naked gun can't work without Leslie Nielsen". I stand corrected. I can easily see Liam Neeson taking the difficult role on himself and actually serving it really well.
His dry, self-serious delivery is really good. My only thing is that he looks so old, like this is his final, not first, Naked Gun movie. I would've preferred someone younger if this ends up being both good and a hit.
(I wouldn't normally cheer for franchise-Hollywood but comedies are in a pretty poor place ATM that I'd welcome even a new Police Academy movie if it just was good.)
Oh, man, Police Academy! Now there would be many roles that their new actors would have to fit really well for it to work.
Considering gow Leslie Nielsen made qiite a few parodies back in the day in his age, I'm not afraid of Neeson not being able to roll out a few more if this one becomes a hit.
