First Runner-Up: Guillermo del Torro’s Frankenstein
Second Runner-Up: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Story
People thought Brendan Fraser’s Rental Family would win the award as it’s a tear jerking crowd-pleaser. Hamnet winning is a bit odd in the sense that it’s more artsy (Zhao is an indie darling) and was often described as being kind of bleak. Though several people reported crying throughout the film so I suppose that emotional response was enough to make it a crowd-pleaser. Amblin Entertainment being behind this now makes more sense.
Seems like Netflix might push Frankenstein as their secondary now that Jay Kelly seems to have peetered out.
