Sinners ended up winning cinematography, making history as the first female cinematographer to win the category. Before this year the closest woman to winning the category was Mandy Walker who lensed Elvis (2022). So congrats to Autumn Durald.

This was also the first time since the 2022 ceremony that I’ve correctly predicted all four acting categories correctly. Last year I went 2/4 and the year before I went 3/4 (I regret not predicting Stone for Poor Things so badly).

This is also the best three win stretch in Picture ever I think. Oppenheimer, Anora, and One Battle After Another are all masterpieces. And interestingly enough they’re all very American (Nolan is half American so I’m still counting that). And are deconstructions of Americana, the American Dream, and the American way of life.

And such a change from the beginning of the year which was quite weak with Nomadland, CODA, and EEAAO.
