    I know that moviepass is unsustainable, but I still got a subscription when they dropped down to $10/mo because why not take advantage of this? I would never invest in the company, but it's certainly benefitting me.

    This AMC one seems a lot more sustainable, TBH, because the company itself is offering the pass. It hardly costs them anything to run it (a bit of a dip in profit) and these passes tend to incentivize the consumer to spend more money at the concession stand. It wouldn't surprise me if they get more out of their consumers by selling this pass.

      The poor leadership at MoviePass and Helios&Matheson is beyond me. A bunch of veteran silicon valley guys and investors didn't see this exact scenario coming? They keep claiming that the user data gained will somehow make it worth it for theaters, AMC is of course realizing they can just do it themselves for free using existing infrastructure.
