I'm going to legitimately miss EFaP, but I feel like they've inadvertently raised the bar on video essays. Like there's a before and after EFaP in terms of how to write, present, and edit Youtube...

I didn't notice a difference, but then again I don't follow many video essay channels. Any recommendations?

You can also clearly see the influence EFaP has had on channels like nerdwriter1 or Kaptain Kristian, but I do not follow them so I won't recommended for or against watching their videos.

Anime Youtubers I follow have sometimes cited EFaP as an influence as well, like Mother's Basement, Super Eyepatch Wolf and Canipa Effect. But among them the only one where I think the influence is very recognizeable is Pause And Select.

Lindsay Ellis is my jam. There are few people who I can say legitimately changed my view of the world, but she is probably number one on my list. She also has astoundingly good recommendations...

She also has astoundingly good recommendations that she casually gives out. I picked up The Hate U Give after she mentioned it in one of her "Its Lit!" videos and am enjoying possibly the best prose of this generation.

One of my more favourite videos of theirs, mainly because it pertains to my city is this video: Vancouver Never Plays Itself.

My personal favourite is Memories of Murder - Ensemble Staging. A lot of movies seem to do close up after close up for conversations, and it was refreshing to see a movie put all the actors in a scene together. It seems more natural somehow.

The folks behind the film analysis channel Every Frame A Painting explain the creative thought process behind their videos, and the reason they decided to kill their channel.
