I wasn't born when it was in theaters but I also remember watching that scene on VHS when I was a kid. I miss the days when Superman was a bit dopey but bright and optimistic. Batman brooding is fitting but Superman doing it too just feels so wrong. God, how I hate the new DC movies. :(
Same. People seem to think being a downer makes him realistic or because he's in our world, it's different. But that's the opposite of his character. Superman is hopeful in spite of how bad it is....

And people who say it's more realistic to have that specific character trait don't understand that people are different. Some people are positive when things are bad. Makes it less realistic if everyone is the same.
