What were the best recent suspense/horror movies you watched?
I'm in search for new ones to watch, but can't seem to find anything. I'm curious about what they are going to do with the new Child's Play reboot.
Anyway, the ones i liked so far:
- Hereditary
- Suspiria
- The Ritual
- Halloween
- The Clovehitch Killer
- The Void
- Gerald’s Game
- It
- Get Out
For slow-burn / atmospheric horror I'd recommend you check out; The Witch, A Dark Song, It Comes at Night, and Krisha. I'm also a big fan of the Dutch film Borgman.
For out there cosmic horror you could check out Beyond the Black Rainbow and Mandy.
Oh, forgot about The Witch. Really good movie.
I'll check the others.
I was surprised it wasn't on your list :)
I personally haven't seen it yet, but "Us" is Jordan Peele's next movie. And based on the reviews, it seems that if you enjoyed Get Out, you will enjoy this one as well.
I'm waiting for it!
One recent-ish horror film I really liked was The Autopsy of Jane Doe.
Jane Doe was definitely unique, but i think the plot could have been a bit deeper. For example, nothing was told about Jane, where she came from, how and when etc.
This movie is worth the watch, but uniqueness is a bit short lived due to pretty straightforward, shallow plot.

Coming back here to recommend The Borderlands (2013). It seems similar to a lot of found-footage movies, but it's something else entirely. I think it's the best in this category.
The ending is really, really unsettling. You'll never see it coming.
