Which sites do you get your movie news/reviews from?

What sites do people use for movie reviews and news? I've been following movie news via the internet since the late 90s. I used to frequent sites like Coming Attractions and C.H.U.D. multiple times per day.

For the past few years, I've mostly been using Twitter to follow news, but I'm trying to use Twitter less so I was curious where other people get their movie news...

This is just a quick list based on my bookmarks...

I've avoided them for quite some time, to be honest. It's mostly because for most movies I want to be surprised and for mass-appeal movies I don't want to know a single thing before I see it as a whole. Even if it weren't the case, it feels like a lot of movie news is about giving you as many spoilers as possible.

As far as reviews go, I have learned to only read them after watching the movie. Typically I only do this if it's an artistic focused film. If I missed a detail, it can provide me new insights and viewpoints with which to enjoy the movie

If you are wondering why I do this, it's the same reason any other type of review is coming into question; there is a wealth of really bad reviews out there. Sure, you can find trusted sources, but there is no guarantee that that source will review everything you want to see. This approach is just easier for me.

I have been using agoodmovietowatch for years now, ever since it´s early beginnings.

As an avid movie watcher, and i would say a decent critique, i find it being the best website i ever used in the context of movie watching other then imdb, which i basically only use for information and data about directors and their work for example. Not for their news or reviews.

It´s the perfect place to go when i simply want to find a good movie to watch, without any spoilers.

When i first found the website, probably through a reddit comment, i noticed that it was made by someone who loves movies(which i later found out is called Bilal). Someone who understands what movies is all about, and that it had a focus on helping others to find high quality international hidden gems.

Back then the website was way more primitive then it is now, and i started to go through their what is now called top vouch list and noticed that this, this is the real deal. A quick visit to their about page should give you a good idea of what the website is about.

I also agree with how the website has evolved over the years. They have since then added shows and the ability to filter for netflix by country and amazon prime for example.

    I highly recommend this website.

In truth I dont really read many full reviews anymore. I've never found a reviewer with whom I agreed completely or didn't have any major qualms with their opinions, so at most I'll read the critical summation on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic. Film School Rejects was pretty good back in the day but as they grew they became a little too technical in their critiques for my taste. They let the artistry play second fiddle to the technique, which I'm not a huge fan of personally.

One of my best friends in college started his own movie review website called The Sacred Wall. Honestly, I don't read very much of it because we text almost non-stop about pop-culture so his articles are rehashes of conversations we've had and because I know his personality, political views, and cultural values I already know what I'm going to agree with and disagree with in his dissections. That said, he's funny and can make solid points and good references.

It is really disappointing how poor AV Club is now. It used to be a great place for articles and discussion.

as someone who was invested in the website before it was acquired, the move over to kinja and it getting bundled with the gawker properties by univision really blew it up, i feel like. kinja's layout destroyed a lot of the incredibly useful things that you could actually use it for (and fucked up the community), and them suddenly having to share editorial standards and employees with the gawker properties probably didn't help the incredibly awkward changeover.
