Eurovision Song Contest 2022 discussion

With the semis behind us, we now have all the qualifiers for Saturday's grand final!

Who's your favourite? Most entertaining stage show? Overall thoughts on this year's crop of songs?

Which song do you think will win? And who (if any) will get the dreaded 0 points?

Who got robbed in the semis? Which songs should have rather won their national qualifications?

I'm pretty sure Ukraine has this one in the bag. Not undeserved; their song is great, possibly my favourite. Though I think I'm rooting for the United Kingdom this year; I really like their song, and I think a win for them would be good for the competition.

I also really like Lithuania, and I loved Georgia, who sadly didn't make it to the grand final.

I'm of course biased, but I really enjoy my own country's stupid song, and was sad to hear their performance in the semi-final wasn't quite on point. (They performed a lot better in the national final, so I hope they bring their A-game on Saturday.)

Sad to say, I think Germany has a pretty good chance at scoring 0 points this year. Prove me wrong, please!

As a side note, I'm happy Overthinking Eurovision is back.

Well... I think it's safe to say our selection process for our contest entry is kinda fucked. One dud after another for the last decade. In 10 entries, 3 lasts and 3 second-to-lasts. Whatever our selection process is, it's great at selecting bad songs. Just spit balling here, but maybe if we do what our selection process tells us not to do, we'll end up at the top?

Your song was my favourite last year. But it did even worse than this year's song, so apparently I have bad taste.

Eurovision 2021 winners Måneskin: ‘Our lives have completely changed’

It wasn’t so long ago that Måneskin were busking on the streets of Rome, performing for four hours straight even if only one person was watching. So the 2021 Eurovision song contest winners couldn’t believe their luck when the Rolling Stones invited them to open a concert in the US in November, giving them their first opportunity to perform in front of an audience of thousands.

Ukrainians can feel Europe losing interest – Eurovision is our chance to rally support

Since the conflict broke out, I see the world differently and Eurovision has taken on new meaning. It’s not just a night of frivolity any more, and fans aren’t just music fans – their support means so much more this year.
