This is a cool concept, but I am frustrated by the complete lack of explanation of how it's doing what it's doing. Is it recommendation-based? Checking for songs with certain genre tags with a low number of plays? Curated by the creator of the app? I feel less inclined to use the app because I don't know where these suggestions are coming from.

I see what you're saying. I'm clueless about it myself, perhaps if we get in touch with whoever is behind it.

There's Tapefear. www.tapefear.com. Guy who made it created a script that looked for lesser known tracks on Spotify, and forgot about it. Let it run in the background for some 10 years. Some 42,000 albums later he made a website for it. Script must still be running because I there is a section for "Latest Finds".

Thanks for the mention of my project. Yes, the script is still running, it adds over a hundred albums a week currently and I'm working on adding new sources.

Why do House and Techno get lumped together and specifically mentioned, but I get a Trance track under "Extreme" music? Trance is one of the basic modern dance genres and isn't particularly "extreme." I expected something more in the Metal area for that label, and we don't even have Rock or Metal labels.

I guess my greater point is some discussion about the contextual definitions of genres would make sense, because this just seems like clicking "random" on Spotify's collection, maybe with a sort for tunes that haven't been listened too.
