Not sure how many music nerds there are on Tildes, but I'd love to know if you find this kind of service useful. I got sick of not knowing when good bands announced new albums, and I also got sick of Spotify not telling me about new things in a timely manner. So I made this.
You connect your Spotify to Releasebot, and then it cross-checks artists you've listened to against new releases. Then I send you two emails:
If a new release is announced that you should care about.
A Friday digest of new releases for today.
Note: It's only Spotify right now because tidal and apple music don't provide enough API access.
I just need a way to know what artists you care about. Last time I checked there was nothing at all like this. I’m looking into making a manual way to upload your artists. But it’s way more fun...

I’m looking into making a manual way to upload your artists. But it’s way more fun when it happens automatically. You can listen to a new band and next week it’ll let you know that a new album is coming out in September.
Ah, I see. There is a way to fetch all artists in a user's library, but I guess you want a list of artists smaller than that? Most recent / most listened?

Ooh that could be good, and better than nothing. The only worry is for users that haven’t saved anything, you’d connect and it would sync nothing. But maybe that kind of person isn’t interested in...

Yeah, here's the API: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applemusicapi/get_all_library_artists I would personally be very happy with the ability to get a weekly email with new releases from...

Hmmm... I don't use Spotify anymore, but the one thing I miss most about it is actually its notification about new album releases. So this could be perfect for me! But one question, @togglebox,...

It updates through emails, one of it finds something new, and one each Friday with the new releases. This may not be for you right now though as I only support Spotify. What do you use to listen?...

(Or would you be interested in not linking to anything and choosing what artists to be notified about in release bot?)
I mostly use YouTube and Amazon music these days. But I would absolutely be interested in a platform agnostic system! So if you ever add support for that, please give me a ping. :)

I would love this for Apple Music! What's missing in the API that this needs?

Yeah that’s definitely workable. I’ll let you know when I’ve got something up and working.

I’ve been thinking about adding this for a while, so I’ll jump into it and let you know how it goes.
Sweet. I look forward to giving it a try. No pressure though, take your time. I can be patient. :P
Anyone want to purchase rights to releasewatcher.com for a low low price?
(In other words - yes, I would find this useful)
