Ye listening party afterthoughts
Anyone who listened to the new Kanye album stream (or, if this thread is still going whenever it's released elsewhere, that), what are your thoughts?
Personally this hurt me to listen to. Not like it hurt my ears, but it's so far below any other Kanye album that I can't help but just be sad.
the album is straight fire though! that last track...
the last three tracks! The Cudi feature on Ghost Town sent chills down my spine
I really loved Ghost Town and the whole album honestly. My girlfriend and I are going through a rough patch and we're on a break, she has bipolar type II and this made me just long for her to be better and for us to make it. Ghost Town hit so hard because it speaks to our situation right now and especially my feelings for her.
I'll be listening to this album a lot, it'll help get me through this.
Hey man, stay strong. That you want to wait for your girl to get better is a sign of true love. I know from experience it can be hard sometimes and you just want to give up, but stay strong. You aren't alone!
Thank you so much. I won't be giving up on her, we've been through a lot.
Daytona's production had me extremely hyped up, but Ye just left me feeling underwhelmed. I'm waiting until it's available in a higher quality to finish judging it though.
I agree, I came in with expectations honestly too high after Daytona and am feeling a little let down. Although someone I know put my feelings for the album really well: "Everything on the album was fire except for kanye".
I was disappointed on my first listen. Similar to you, far below my expectation. The only song I'll probably listen again is Cry tonight, even though I'm sure it will be removed from my main playlist in a week or so.
EDIT: After listening to it some more times, the album has actually grown on me. I think its personally means a lot to Kanye after going throught the lyrics of some songs as he is opening himself up through his music. Although I have become more conflicted about my opinion of his album.
Yikes / All Mine / Ghost Town are going to get a lot of play out of me. The album is too short though and the cover art is stupid.
apparently he took it on his iPhone on the way to the listening party. I love the Grand Tetons, though
I don't mind the picture, it's that cheeseball text that looks like it belongs on a t-shirt from a mall kiosk.
Oh damn you right tho. Minor gripe is that he used the possessive form of "its" instead of the contraction for "it is"
I need to listen to it some more, I was half asleep last night, but I really want to like it. My ex-wife has bipolar and hearing him talk about it really hit home. I'm glad to see that he's doing well these days, it sounds like things might have been pretty rough for a while.
I wasn't much a fan, but I also haven't gotten into the last 3 Kanye albums very much. Actually thought the first half was better than the second, which seems to be counter to what others are saying here.
I haven’t heard any songs so far that have blown me away, but there are quotable moments in the lyrics. “I love your titties because they are proof I can focus on two things at once”
