Agreed on IppSec videos. I got started like a year and a half ago just from watching him and his basic enumeration method and it got me up to being able to at least work through the "Challenges" section on HTB before eventually being able to actually independently pop boxes through googling and research. Hmu on HTB in a DM, same username, if you ever want some tips from someone not in the field that's gotten into pentesting on how to get started or want some useful materials.

I've heard most of their studio stuff and never had it click but about halfway through the first Europe '72 Volume something clicked and I haven't been able to listen to anything else for like a week now.

But in all honesty, those subreddits can be cool, but when you get into quityourbullshit and inceltears it's such a specific subsection of a subsection of a subsection of humor that I certainly don't think tilde should or even could take it on at this stage. I'd take good discussion over a quick funny image any day and I think when you have a good thread going a good joke there is funnier than an hour of blank-faced reddit speed-scrolling. That's why greentext stories are some of the most popular humor images on reddit.

Yeah I've since listened to it and really like it more than Honeybear and Pure Comedy, but less than Fear Fun, personally even though those are typically regarded as better than Fear Fun from what I can tell. The one thing is I wish he would have a bit more variation in his songs. They all feel like him giving the same 4 chords and slow slow pace without taking any musical risks. I think the closest he's gotten were Holy Shit and maybe Only Son of the Ladiesman. The last track on the album felt more in line with that and it was solid. Will for sure keep listening to it though.

Damn, I'm typically skeptical of Misty's work after he got so braggadocious on Honeybear and thought he invented atheism on Pure Comedy, but this song is fantastic. Reminds me of some sort of weird cross between fight club, the shining, and the truman show and the song and video are perfect together. The lyrics are way closer to something he'd put on Fear Fun too. Might have to check out his new album after this.

It sounds cool, but are they intentionally sampling Viva La Vida by Coldplay for the intro to the first song on the new album?

Yes exactly! I didn't realize the movie was in the videogame universe before I watched it too, where you see a lot of that sympathy for her being a human in a truly viciously abusive relationship. I loved him sort of having trouble dealing with her at the beginning because he's trying to talk to her and then when he has to take down quickly because there's a squad of other villains to deal with, he's able to just let her take herself out because of the weight balance of the oversized hammer. Completely zen in exactly the way Batman is great at portraying and the live action movies are utterly, criminally unaware of.

Right on, animal rights are one of the few topics I am truly fanatical about, at least inwardly. Environmentalism and national health are my other two big causes and they get nicely packaged into veganism. I personally haven't gone out and done any activism for it but I've been vegan for about 7 years now and haven't looked back. It's an interesting cause because once you start to get into it, it's hard to not see horror all around you in our society.

Watched it earlier today and loved it! Did such a good job in all the places the live action ones have failed. Specifically with the small portrayals of Batman in it. Completely outwitting rather than outfighting, but not at the expense of some ass kicking.

Specifically when he takes care of the brief hostage situation by making him think he missed with the Batclaw and hitting him with the brick it grabbed. So refreshing after BvS where the resolution to Martha being taken hostage was just to shoot the flamethrower on the guy’s back. Completely ruined the tension of that scene in an already rough movie. Great suggestion though, thanks!

Oh man this is actually the first I'm hearing of his death so definitely the latter, that's wild. I've only heard him mentioned briefly before and this is the first book of his I'm reading. I only realized he wrote Bonfire from the inside cover of Acid Test. The aesthetic of the book is far and away the best part of the book though, just perfectly encapsulating the mood that the group on the bus gives off and the understanding that they all had around what was going on. Last summer I had time to get more into psychedelic literature though so I'm sort of continuing that since this was a book in the vein of the others I had read. Any suggestions for other books of this type or sort of more towards the thoughtful side of psychedelic literature?
